It stays fine all week, but on the one day I want to go out in the morning and walk around some car boot sales what does it do? It's snows. In April! Any other day would have been fine, and it could have done it half an hour earlier instead of starting as soon as we have drove too far away enough from the house to make it worth turning back, so I could stay in bed. I'm starting to doubt the existence of Global Warming..Sunday, April 06, 2008
Summer Time Snow?

Lucy Lolly: Rough Animation Complete!
Nine days later and I've done pencil drawings of every scene that would be too difficult to draw from scratch directly into flash, because as much as I like using a tablet tool, nothing beats good old paper. All 186 pages of drawings have to be scanned and now they need to be organized into separate flash scenes so I can draw over them with colour and refinements.
All in all this stage of the process took a lot less time than I expected, doing around 3-4 hours of work every day for 9 days (remember just last week when I said I could be done in 3-4 weeks?) and I'm pleased with the results of most of the animation, although some shots will need added inbetweens and some tinkering here and there for the final. Scattered about are some more scans. I now have about seven weeks to get this all completed. =D

Genndy Tartakovsky is my Hero.
You wanna know why? Because he directs wonderful animation like this and this. These are his latest works for the Niquitin ad campaign, which you may of seen on telly already before with this one. As soon as Cartoon Brew linked to these new ads, I just couldn't help but sit and view every single frame individually to see how his characters are moved about, before even watching it at normal, because each frame just fills me with joy. These inspire so much I'm going to post a pile of screen captures here for me to look back to while working on Lucy Lolly. In my own perfect world, all commercials on TV would be this good, then I wouldn't mind watching them! He has a show reel of sorts here if you wanna see some of his other works (some of which should be pretty familiar).

Speaking of Lucy Lolly, the rough animation should be done as soon as tomorrow. I'll post more scans soon.
